MEMO to JAMIE FOXX
Dear Jamie:
Promise me, PROMISE ME Black Man, that you aren't going to do that tired, ghetto-assed call and response shtick when you win at the Academy Awards!! I guess that you're flying so high now that people, especially those around you, are afraid to tell it like it is, so I'ma step into the void: you did it at the Globes, you did it at the Screen Actors, you've done it on every @#*!!& talk show... STOP. NOW. You're a talented guy- WRITE some new damn material!
And while we're on the subject, isn't it wild how the Foxx juggernaut has sunk Don Cheadle's chances? I admit I haven't yet seen "Ray", but after seeing "Hotel Rwanda", with the boomshot performance of the always-incredible Cheadle and given the super on-point subject matter, I was sure that this was Don's Oscar moment. Go figure. I've never seen such a clear race: Swank, Freeman, Eastwood (for Best Director), and Foxx. And OK, I've accepted it. I just really, really want Jamie to respect the tux he'll wear at the end of the month and say something heartfelt and stripped down for a change.
Gee, I just had a revelation: There are so many black nominees this year that I'm actually quibbling about content rather than celebrating inclusion....
